Supporting Our Local San Diego Businesses

    Farmers Market Finds

There is nothing better than strolling through your local farmers market in the fall. Will you leave with a beautiful bouquet of flowers? A loaf of pumpkin bread? Whatever treasures you bring home, the best part is you’re supporting your local businesses! Here’s what we found at the San Marcos, California farmers market.

Wandering through the market right by Cal State San Marcos is the best way to spend a Tuesday afternoon if you ask us. We had our 24L Eco Collapsible Basket and our 30L Collapsible LUXE Tote ready to go! We first stopped at Rankins Plant Shop because who doesn’t love a succulent? We were so charmed by Sylvia and Neil that we wound up with a couple different potted plants! The proceeds Rankins Plant Shop receives in sales actually goes towards Sylvia’s cancer treatments so any support our community can give is greatly appreciated.

Next up, we headed to Baba Foods for literally the best hummus EVER. We’re not saying we’re experts on the subject, but if you could get a degree in hummus … 🙋🏻‍♀️ They have so many flavors to choose from, not to mention a fiery feta dip that is to die for and other fresh foods like tabouli salad and baba ghanouj. They also have an assortment of homemade pita chips and pita bread which are absolute must haves!

After trying just about every flavor of hummus available, it was time for a sweet treat. Sinfully Sweet by Stacia was practically calling our name as we walked by. She has so many tasty desserts including vegan and gluten free options! You can really feel the love that Stacia puts into each baked good, it was hard to pick just one! We settled on this delightfully rich monster brownie with sprinkles AND Oreos packed right in. Absolutely divine.

In an effort to spread the joy of treats, we ran over to Rescue Dog Barkery for some dog friendly desserts for our sweet pups. At Rescue Dog Barkery, they “believe all dogs deserve a safe home and a tasty treat” which is why their dog treats are natural and healthy. They also donate a portion of the proceeds every month to a different rescue organization. After careful thought and consideration, we landed on some peanut butter treats that the dogs can’t get enough of!

We ended the day how we started, with more plants! Maldonado Growers always has a beautiful selection of bouquets and other colorful adornments. We grabbed a bunch of flowers reminiscent of the autumn sun along with some funky gourds we just couldn’t pass up. We ended up using the gourds to create a really fun fall themed dinner set up that you need to checkout for Thanksgiving inspiration! You can find it on the CleverMade Instagram here. Side note, a lot of these vendors will be at the Carlsbad Street Fair THIS Sunday 11/6 from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
