Spooky season is nearly halfway through which means you are up to your ears in fun filled Halloween activities with the kids. We have a super crafty art project for the kiddos that’s also practical.
A few weeks ago, our Creative Director Kate, brought her 4-year-old son Charlie in for a Halloween prep afternoon. Charlie is going to be a “silly pirate” for Halloween, and he wanted a candy basket to carry his treasures. He grabbed a 20L Blue Skies LUXE Tote from mom and got to work on decorations. Kate helped Charlie cut out some sparkly sea creatures like an octopus and squid along with gold coins for his pirate booty. Charlie helped glue on the googly eyes and Kate hot glued the decorations right on the tote.
If you want to join in on the fun with your little goblins, here is everything you need:
Have the kids pick out what they want on their totes for trick-or-treating and get started. Whether they want a Halloween theme, underwater, fairies, or animals, you can print some items at home, cut those out, and help the kids trace those onto the foam sheets. If you take a peek around your local craft store, you might even be able to find specific stencils.
Once everything is traced, you can start cutting out characters and shapes from the foam sheets. Let the kids go bananas on gluing googly eyes and other decorations. Last, grown-ups can hot glue all the adornments onto the totes. Voila! Now your kids have a one-of-a-kind tote, perfect for Halloween.
